Wooden packing material is made up of raw wood that may not have undergone sufficient processing or treatment to remove or kill pest & therefore become a path of introduction & spread of pest & infection.
Further more wood packing material is very often reused, recycled or remanufactured. The true origin of any piece of wood packing material is difficult to determine & thus its phytosanitory status cannot be ascertained. Therefore normal process of under taking risk analysis to determine if measures are necessary & the strength of such measures is frequently not possible for wood packing material because its origin & phytosanitory status may not known for the reason. This standard described globally accepted measures that are approved & that may be applied to wood packaging material by all countries to practically eliminate the risk for most quarantine pests & significantly reduce the risk from a number of other pests that may be associated with the material.
We do wooden packing material fumigation by using high quality fumigant i.e. Methyl bromide (MBR), prior to the shipment of the consignments. It helps the wooden pallet to last longer by eradicating pests from it.
